Academic Overview

AOS offers challenging courses and development in the traditional core areas of study such as language arts, mathematics, social studies, and science. Foreign language, physical education, visual art, drama, music, and technology are also offered as part of the curriculum. One unique characteristic of the AOS program is the study of Greek language, culture and heritage starting with the Early Childhood Program through fifth grade. As part of its mission and purpose, AOS fosters a learning of the Orthodox Christian faith through religion class and a weekly chapel service. The development of leadership, citizenship, and strong moral character is an AOS hallmark. A love for the community and a respect for others is a result of spiritual and moral development and continually fostered through community service activities. AOS students feel that they can make the world a better place as a result of the curriculum and programs.

The learning environment is one that encourages the students to try something challenging, to take academic risks, and to abandon the fear of failure. AOS educators are committed to providing students with a challenging, yet nurturing, environment. Teachers instill excitement for the discovery of knowledge through motivating students to reach individual goals. Students inherit the sense of enthusiasm the educators convey through a variety of instructional techniques. Each student discovers and encourages others talents and strengths, and each individual talent and strength is celebrated.
