Students checking out library books

Library Policies

Middle School
Students may borrow materials for two weeks and renew them as needed. Overdue notices are issued through the advisories. After three overdue notices are delivered, a letter is mailed home asking parental assistance in locating the missing item. If an item is lost, the standard charge is $20; $17 of the $20 may be refunded if the book eventually is found and returned in the same school year. Checks should be made payable to the AOS Library.

Lower School
Students may borrow materials for one week and renew them as appropriate. Kindergarten and first grade may borrow one book and one music CD, or only one book. They may not borrow another book until any items already borrowed are returned. Second through fourth grade may borrow two items, a book, and a music CD, or two books. Occasionally during special reading or research projects they may be allowed to have three items. Overdue notices are issued weekly through Friday Folders, and are followed by a letter to the parents when needed. If an item is lost, the standard charge is $20; $17 of the $20 may be refunded if the book eventually is found and returned in the same school year. Checks should be made payable to the AOS Library.

Jones Center
Students do not borrow books directly. The librarians bring books connected to the curriculum for the students to keep in the classroom throughout the week.
