Our cross-curricular
projects, such as History as Story, create valuable
connections between researching and writing which
are utilized to grow creativity in writing and
knowledge of research materials.
Library time at AOS Lower School consists of a
variety of activities from story time, DEAR time,
checking out books and CDs, and various other
projects tied to classroom lessons. Our students
in lower school learn about concepts important
to literature, library and research skills during
their visits. Fourth graders earn the responsibility
of Shelf Sheriffs making sure books are placed
back on the shelves in the proper place according
to the Dewey Decimal System. The school in general
is a community in which we all work together to
take the best care of our things. The library
is no exception. Our parents continue to be a
big help in the library working with students
to find just the right book, helping shelve books,
and assisting with a variety of projects that
occur throughout the year. The enrichment activities,
variety of literature, and overall atmosphere
make the AOS Lower School Library a wonderful
experience.
