2nd-Grade Students Create Tipis
Jeri Lodato

2nd-grade students made tipis after studying the Sioux tribe as part of their Native Americans unit. Students learned why they were a nomadic tribe and how they followed the animals they were hunting. Tipis were a comfortable shelter that could be put up and taken down in a short amount of time. Students were given a limited amount of materials and realized that even tipi models can be tricky to build.
