Moving to the Music
Penny Angelo

PK students performed a joyous dance with colorful scarves to the tune of Primo Verre from Carmina Burana! Mrs. Bonasso’s PK music class has been learning about musical patterns and how the sections of a song repeat. They have also learned that within those sections, different dynamics (loud and soft sounds) and varying pitches occur. With a scarf in each hand, students danced with high and low movements in time with the high and low pitches of the song. By marching and gliding with their flowing scarves, students also learned through dance that music can have short sounds and long, connected sounds. The rich choral arrangement of this piece showcased operatic voices that crescendoed into a dramatic finish, which students displayed with dramatic waves of their beautiful scarves!
