Mrs. Natalie McAfee, 7th Grade History Teacher, encouraged her students to solve a real-life problem. The US government decided they want a woman on our currency, and a committee voted on Harriet Tubman; but progress then stalled due to a variety of reasons. President Biden’s administration recently announced the continuation of that effort. In response, our 7th-grade students wrote letters to Janet Yellen, Secretary of the Treasury, with their recommendations on how our currency could include Harriet Tubman. We are hoping for a response!
