This year, AOS partnered with BEAR (Be A Resource for CPS Kids) for the first service project of the year. Serving over 8,000 annually, BEAR makes sure children who are under the supervision of CPS have the supplies they need to start the school year off strong. Backpacks and school supplies seem so simple, but they make a huge difference in a student’s academic success.

Starting August 16, faculty, staff, and families donated numerous school supplies. These included everything you could imagine - backpacks, pencils, paper, markers, folders, crayons, and so much more. At the Back to School Breakfast on August 20, our students helped to stuff over 100 backpacks with these supplies! Even after the backpacks were stuffed, AOS was able to donate an additional 20 boxes of extra supplies!

To conclude the project, backpacks were blessed by Fr. Efstratios during Chapel service, and they were sent off with agape. It was a great way to kick off the school year as we demonstrate our priority of “serving others together.”
