This week, fourth-grade students worked on a STEAM project centered on Texas history. Students were tasked to solve a problem related to The Battle of the Alamo - the cannons at The Alamo were not working! To provide a solution, students created cardboard cannons. The goal was to make a cannon that could launch a ball at least 100 centimeters. Putting their engineering skills to the test, students used a variety of materials to create a successful cannon. Some of these materials included a cardboard tube, rubber bands, balloons, four working wheels, 36 inches of masking tape, and metal brads. Students enjoyed launching their miniature cannons and learned a lot from this cross-curricular activity!
