Classroom Catapults
Penny Angelo
Catapults in 2nd grade sent candy corn pumpkins flying! Students constructed their own mini catapults using Dixie cups, spoons, popsicle sticks, rubber bands, and pipe cleaners. Each design was well-engineered to hit a target. Students took turns launching their pumpkins and depending on where they landed, each student had to solve an addition equation. This tactile activity gave students the opportunity to use their creativity while practicing math skills at the same time.
