While sixth-grade students have spent the entire year learning about different cultures and religions through research, they have also learned a significant amount about each other. The class is made up of students who practice various religions and celebrate a multitude of cultural traditions, bringing together a knowledge base of firsthand experiences. With help from our amazing parent volunteers, this week, students enjoyed an interactive lesson about the religion of Islam and the fasting period of Ramadan which ends with Eid al-Fitr. After an informative presentation and video, parents led students in a game where they had to guess the flag of several countries where there is a large Muslim population. It was quite impressive to see how many students were familiar with the flags! The lesson concluded with a tasting of treats traditional to an Eid al-Fitr celebration. Thank you to our parents for always being so giving of their time, talents, and knowledge!
Eid Mubarak!
