Kindergarten Snowballs
Penny Angelo

It’s snowing in Kindergarten! Students fired pompon snowballs out of cannons to practice their math skills. Each cannon was made from a plastic cup that had its bottom cut out and a balloon stretched over the missing end. After placing the snowball inside the cup, students pulled back on the balloon launching the snowball as far as possible. Students then measured the distance the snowballs traveled with non-standard units like the strips of paper shown in this photo. After taking measurements, students discovered whose cannon was the most effective in firing the snowballs the farthest.
