We may not see snow on the streets of Houston this year, but Mr. Elam’s got a few tricks up his sleeve to make it happen inside the classroom. Kindergarten students in Mr. Elam’s class ended their polar unit with a tactile activity. After learning about polar animals and their habitats, students were ready to experience snow. With a surprising mix of baking soda and hair conditioner, students were able to play with a white and fluffy substance that actually felt cool to the touch! This was a great lesson to bring all of their polar animal research to life.
