Math You Can Eat
Penny Angelo
Mrs. Loving’s 6th-grade students learned about ratios with some help from M&M’S. Students first defined ratios as a comparison of two quantities and wrote that ratios can be part-to-part, whole-to-part, or part-to-whole. Then, students practiced a little self-control by opening a bag of M&M’S and counting each color. They patiently wrote ratios for each color combination and discussed their findings with each other. In the end, their hard work really paid off - they were able to eat their lesson!
