AOS’ first ever Odyssey of the Mind team is already setting the bar really high! Odyssey of the Mind “teaches students how to develop and use their natural creativity to become problem-solvers.” Each team is given a long-term problem for which they must develop a creative solution. Working within multiple limitations, students present their solution to a panel of judges in the form of a skit. Teams also compete to solve a spontaneous problem at the tournaments as well. The AOS team, coached by parent volunteers, Jessica A. and Stephanie W., recently competed at the Houston area regional tournament on March 5 and won first place in the middle school division for their problem, Problem 5 – Life is a Circus! They will be advancing to the state tournament on April 9 with the hopes of qualifying for the World Tournament. Good luck to 6th-grade team members Katherine A., Eden I., Lauren I., Sachin J., Andrew I., Dash W., and Ethan O.
