Songs and Smiles
Natalie Gray

The 7th-grade Chamber Choir had very successful outreach experiences at three different assisted living facilities last week - Belmont (Hunters Creek), The Village (Heights), and The Tradition (Woodway). A special thanks goes to the parents who drove them to and from these events. Our parents who chaperoned were drivers, roadies, and PR reps! Thank you to Victoria S., Raj C., and Angela S.

Students, Daniel P., Laila C., Caroline B., Meredith S., and Olivia S., prepared five pieces including "Tomorrow" from Annie, "Build Me Up, Buttercup," "Down To The River To Pray," "L-O-V-E," and Irving Berlin's "Blue Skies" accompanied by Daniel P. The students led the residents in a group sing-along as well and conducted a music bingo activity.

Everyone absolutely loved our group! The residents and staff at the facilities were all so appreciative that we took the time to visit with them, and they definitely want us to see us return.

The students were not only excited to perform, but to also interact with every resident. The importance of empathy was strong during these visits. Our students showed such poise, compassion, and respect for all those they encountered. They represented AOS with such grace, and I am so very proud of them!
