Learning to wait without complaining or getting upset and the ability to remain calm when dealing with a difficult situation - that is the definition of patience, which is our word of the month for October.
Whether we need patience with our children, our friends, our loved ones or coworkers, being patient is hard. To work on patience, we need to call upon God to strengthen us. In the Bible, Isaiah 40:31 says, “But they that wait upon the Lord, shall renew their strength they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, and they shall walk and not faint.”
Patience is also one of the Fruits of the Spirit found in Galatians 5:22-26. When we understand that to have patience, we need to be filled with God‘s Holy Spirit, we will pray and ask God to help us.
Let us ask ourselves where in our life is it the hardest for us to be patient? Then let us ask God for that strength and remember what it says in Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding in all your ways, acknowledge Him and He shall direct your path.”
