Word of the Month | Showing Gratitude
Connie Koinis

Christos Anesti! Alithos Anesti!
Christ is Risen! Truly He is Risen!

We are currently in the 40-day period after Pascha/Easter, and we continue to greet each other with the message of the resurrection of Christ. This is a perfect time to talk about gratitude, our word of the month for May.

For the Christian faith, the resurrection of Christ is the most important celebration. We celebrate Jesus’ defeat over death and the hope of salvation and eternal life. Gratitude not only involves being thankful, but also showing appreciation for the blessings that we have. We are so grateful to be at a school where we can teach the truth of Christ and where we can show our love and appreciation to our families, students, and staff. What a perfect time to count our blessings for the school year that we have had, and for the people here at AOS that we call family. We have lost some loved ones in our family community, and at the same time, we have welcomed new life to our family with the birth of quite a few babies and more on the way.

In 1 Thessalonians 5:17-18, Saint Paul tells us to “Pray continually! Give thanks in all circumstances for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

As summer approaches and many members of our AOS family community begin new chapters, may we all remember to thank God for all of our blessings and to show gratitude to others.

Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death and to those in the tombs, He has granted life.
