Word of the Month | Obedience
5th Grade Students
Obedience means to be a respectful leader, one who follows the rules, and obeys teachers and adults.

At AOS, we show obedience by obeying all AOS teachers and staff, abiding by the rules, following our Philotimo values and social contracts, and showing loyalty to our school community. By doing that, we are making our school and community a better place.

Bible verse Luke 11:28 says, “But he said, ‘More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God, and keep it!” This verse reminds us that obeying God’s word can bring us special blessings.
Danica, 5th Grade

I think Obedience means listening, doing the right thing, helping others, and having integrity.
It also means showing gratitude and showing agape. The opposite of obedience is making messes and not cleaning them, saying "no" to your parents when they ask you to do your chores, and being rude and disrespectful. A few ways you can show obedience at AOS and in your everyday life is, listening to your teacher’s instructions, following one of the ten commandments, respecting your mother and father,  and showing respect to your parents, teachers, and friends.

Here are two bible verses that talk about obedience:
  • Romans 1:5 Through Him we have received grace and apostleship for obedience to the faith among all nations for his name.
  • Romans 5:19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous.
John, 5th Grade
