Lower School
The Katherine Veletsos Lower School is where our students become independent learners.
As they develop foundational skills in a variety of academic areas, our students grow socially, academically, emotionally, and spiritually. AOS encourages students to explore their personal interests and develop their unique strengths while continuing to instill a natural curiosity and a joy for learning. The lower school program includes Kindergarten through 4th grade.
Our goal in Lower School is to cultivate each child’s natural curiosity and instill a lifelong love of learning. Each student is a responsible member of our classroom community, where kindness, respect, and inclusivity are honored. Students develop a growth mindset nurtured through independent and collaborative experiences, curiosity, and academic rigor. Our children have a beautiful balance of growing their hearts and minds, emerging as dynamic thinkers, creative problem solvers, and confident, compassionate leaders.
Ashley Mejia, Head of Early Childhood & Lower School
In our Lower School, we prioritize a holistic approach that seamlessly integrates social and emotional learning with academic excellence. Through a blend of innovative methodologies and proven educational practices, students are empowered to develop social skills, academic proficiency, as well as executive functioning abilities. Our nurturing environment fosters a balanced growth where each student is valued individually while cultivating essential life skills necessary for future success.
