Affording AOS

AOS provides need-based financial assistance. AOS does not offer merit-based scholarships or aid.

Anybody with a demonstrated financial need is eligible for financial assistance.

Through the generosity of the Papadopoulos Foundation and the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, there is a pool of money to be awarded to families of Greek and Orthodox heritage that demonstrate a financial need.  Any families applying for the Papadopoulos/AGOC awards should complete the regular AOS financial assistance process and notify the Director of Finance and Operations of their desire to be considered for these awards. 

Returning families should apply for financial assistance before the deadline of December 31. Perspective new families should apply by February 16.  Applications for financial assistance should be received prior to knowing your child’s admission decision.  In most situations, if you meet the February 16 deadline for applying for financial assistance, the award information will be communicated with the admission decision.

AOS is need-blind in the Admission process.  Applying for financial assistance has no effect on your child(ren)’s admission to the School.​

Every family’s financial situation is different, so we take an individual approach to each application.  AOS uses Blackbaud Financial Aid Management (BBFAM) to analyze each family’s financial need and to determine an amount they feel each family can contribute towards an AOS education. The AOS Financial Aid Committee makes a final decision on the amount of financial aid granted based on the results of BBFAM’s analysis and any other relevant information.

New students to the School should receive a financial assistance decision along with their admission decision, as long as they have met the deadline of February 16 to have their application and all financial documents submitted to BBFAM. Returning families should receive financial assistance decisions by the time enrollment contracts are released if they meet the December 31 application deadline.  Financial assistance awards are granted later if a family does not make the initial deadline. Award notifications are made the same day acceptances are released.  Families should be aware that failing to meet the deadline may have an impact on the amount of assistance the School is able to award.

Yes, returning families will need to apply for financial assistance each year they have a need.
