FAQ
A: A bill passed by the Texas Legislature requires parents to attest to their child’s swim ability during the camp waiver process. Any swimmer who cannot swim will be required to wear a lifejacket during their pool time. We also perform a swim test on each camper every swim day to ensure that they are able to swim from one end of the shallow end to the other. This swim test determines whether or not they are allowed to go into the deep end. We do this each day to ensure they have the strength and stamina each day and are not extra tired any given day. This also gives our lifeguards the opportunity to see the swim levels of our campers as well. Campers who cannot pass the swim test unassisted are not allowed to go to the deep end of the pool.
Q: Will I be charged if my child is put on the waitlist?
A: No, you will not. Charges will only be applied once you’ve been offered a space in the program and you have confirmed that you want the space that is offered to you.
Q: If my child is waitlisted for a specialty camp, are they guaranteed a space in the day camp if they don’t get in?
A: No, these are two different programs with separate registrations. Your child is not guaranteed a space in the day camp unless they are registered for that program.
Q. When does registration close?
A: Registration closes May 1, 2025. Please note, any camps with remaining availability will be closed the Thursday before each camp week.

Whether your child is a sports fanatic, a junior scientist, a budding artist, or an engineer, the Camp AOS Specialty Camps are sure to offer a program that serves your child’s varied interests.
All specialty camps run half days either in the morning or afternoon, except for the Summer Musical Theater Programs, Rice University School Mathematics Project, and the Creative Writing Camp which are full-day camps.
Campers in Specialty Camps do not participate in any of the Day Camp activities including Splashday, swimming, or field trips. Lunch is available for an additional fee for those campers enrolled in morning and afternoon camps.
Please note, if your child is waitlisted for a specialty program, they are not guaranteed a spot in the day camp. These are two separate programs.
