Our average teacher tenure is 15 years. Once a teacher comes to AOS, they never want to teach anywhere else!

AOS provides a generous amount of professional development for each of its employees. Through the Bid from the Heart Fund and the Mark Kelly Endowment for Professional Development, AOS will remain a place that believes in the continuing education and development of its employees. The forms of professional development that are supported are wide and varied and include conference fees and travel, support for advanced degrees, and weekly teacher-led meetings that encourage cross-departmental collaboration.

Fully aware of the financial pressures that come with being a teacher in the United States, AOS is dedicated to a wide range of practices that keep our faculty in a happy, healthy, and balanced life. One of those practices is providing competitive pay. We reject the common practice of offering lower faculty wages due to being an independent school and typically offer more competitive salaries than traditional public schools.
