A little rain couldn't stop our 8th graders from having an amazing experience in Washington DC February 10-13. Our nation's capital and Mount Vernon were highlights for our students along with paying their respects to fallen heroes at the Arlington National Cemetery and other memorials around DC. Welcome home!
What a treat! January 27-30 Candace Fleming was our visiting guest author, and she led our students through "history as story" writing workshops. It's such a privilege for our students to have access to and the opportunity to learn from highly accomplished and passionate professionals.
Congratulations to all of our winter sports teams! Both our boys and girls soccer and basketball teams advanced to the semifinals with our boys basketball and girls soccer teams making it all the way to the championship games! What an incredible season.
Happy February! Each year AOS spends this month of love opening their hearts to those in need. As our students prepare for Have a Heart Day, they learned on January 23 about each organization they will be helping. Thank you to House of Tiny Treasures, SEARCH Homeless Services, Houston Police Department, and former firefighter and AOS alumnus Anderson Clark for spending time with our students and informing them about why our students' support is important and needed.
