Opa! Olympics

AOS held its annual Olympic Games May 11 with a theme in celebration of the Olympic Gods. Opening ceremonies set the stage for this exciting day of friendly competition!

Following tradition, the Fourth Grade served as team captains and led the parade of colors into the Steve G. Caloudas Activity Center. The AOS spirit came alive when Mark Kelly gave his final Head of School Welcome Address, and the Kindergarten torchbearers conducted the ceremonial lighting of the torch followed by "The Olympic Gods Review" performances.

Each year, as a Greek Orthodox school, AOS follows the traditions of the Olympic Games including reciting the traditional Olympic Hymn in Greek followed by the Greek national anthem, the “Star Spangled Banner” and the AOS Olympic oath. All of the students on the black, red, blue, white, green and yellow teams contributed their best efforts in each of their events.

Congratulations to this year's winning blue team, Poseidon! Thank you to event chair Tricia Georgiou and her committee for all of the behind-the-scenes work that made this event so spectacular!
