Dolphins at a Distance

Our Dolphins at a Distance program will be utilized in any event where on-campus learning is deemed unsafe.

Teachers will utilize Dolphins at a Distance in the following circumstances:

  • Any time the full campus is closed
  • In 3rd-8th grade, any time a full grade is in quarantine and must be off campus
  • In Delphi-2nd grade, any time a full cohort must quarantine and be off campus

Jones Center & Lower School

Our goal is to mirror a typical in-person day at AOS as closely as possible, while taking into account the developmental needs of our students and the differences associated with distance learning.

Dolphins at a Distance is designed to deliver our robust standards-based curriculum in a developmentally appropriate way while students are learning at home. Our 2020-2021 version includes a new schedule, new learning tools, and the use of Seesaw as our Learning Management System. Teachers will plan and deliver curriculum that is thoughtful, challenging, and rewarding; and they will be available to work with students directly while supporting students remotely.

The schedule will be the same each week.

The Dolphins at a Distance schedules are designed to replicate the AOS on-campus experience while taking into account the developmental, social, and emotional needs of our young learners and the challenges associated with learning via a computer screen. As we progress through each grade level, the schedule allows for more choice and independence during the learning process.

Each week includes:

  • Core Classes
  • Enrichments & PE
  • Chapel
  • Dolphin Daily News
  • Synchronous & Asynchronous Instruction
  • Independent Work Time

Seesaw

We are excited to announce that beginning this year, Seesaw will replace Blackbaud as the new Jones Center and lower school Learning Management System (LMS). Seesaw is a powerful tool designed for elementary students that allows for a one-stop location for:

Middle School

Our distance learning approach seeks to balance the need for delivering essential curriculum with the need to promote mental health and well-being of each student.

The goal of Annunciation Orthodox School’s Dolphins at a Distance program is to provide ongoing, robust standards-based instruction, delivered in a way that furthers student academic success and progression through the standards. Our 2020-2021 version of distance learning includes a new schedule, new learning tools, and an updated approach to our Blackbaud Learning Management System (the AOS portal). We recognize nothing can effectively replace on-campus instruction, but AOS teachers have worked hard to develop new ways to make learning engaging and interactive in a digital environment.
